A US-based media and advertising company is hiring a Business Development Representative to build its outbound engine in Europe.
This is a research-led seat. Most of the job happens before a single message goes out: figuring out which accounts are worth approaching, finding the reason why now, and turning that reason into a message someone actually answers. If you enjoy the hunt β tracking signals, reading between the lines of a job posting or a funding round, connecting dots other people walk past β this role is built around that instinct rather than treating it as a bonus.
Outbound here runs on email. LinkedIn and Sales Navigator are where you do the research; email is where you make contact. Your writing is the product.
You will not run the meetings you book. Closers do that. Your job ends with a qualified meeting on their calendar β and this role is a step toward that seat, not a destination.
What you'll do
- Research accounts and buying signals to identify opportunities before your competitors do β hiring patterns, funding, leadership moves, tech-stack changes, ad activity, whatever tells you an account is in motion.
- Build your own prospect lists from scratch. Nobody hands you a list.
- Run cold email outreach β write the sequences, personalise from real research, test what works and keep what wins.
- Qualify the replies against clear criteria, so that what reaches a closer is worth their hour.
- Book highly qualified meetings for the sales team.
- Keep the pipeline clean in HubSpot β proper follow-up, no contact overlap, no lost threads.
- Use prospecting, intent and AI signal tools to reach the right person at the right moment with something relevant to say. The stack is Apollo, Sales Navigator and HubSpot β and if you make the case for something else, we will listen.
- Own your deliverability. Warmup, inbox rotation, bounce rates. In an email-led motion this is not an afterthought.
What we're looking for
- 2+ years running outbound generation as an SDR or BDR β researching, prospecting and booking meetings as your core function, with email as your primary channel.
- A track record of exceeding quota, ideally with meaningful pipeline generated. Benchmark: $1M+ in a year, self-sourced.
- Experience with high-ticket deals β opportunities in the $100k range.
- Fluency with a prospecting stack you assembled yourself β Apollo, Sales Navigator and HubSpot or direct equivalents, plus an email sequencer.
- Advanced English (C1), written and spoken. Written, because cold email is the channel and your writing carries the whole first impression. Spoken, because your prospects and your team are English-speaking, and because this seat leads to client conversations.
- A technical, curious and autonomous profile β you solve your own problems, build your own processes, and do not wait to be told which account to open next.
- An entrepreneurial, results-driven mindset, comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Presence. You can hold your ground in a conversation, ask the questions that matter, and stay composed when someone pushes back. You want to close eventually, even if you have never closed yet.
Nice to have β not required
- Experience in the media, advertising, adtech, pay-per-call, affiliate or lead generation industry.
What success looks like
- Months 1β2: 1β2 qualified meetings per week.
- Month 3 onward: 3β5 qualified meetings per week, with leads close to purchase-ready.
The details
- Location: fully remote, based in Europe β the Nordics, the UK and Ireland, or Eastern Europe. Part of the sales team already sits in Ukraine.
- Compensation: $40β60k base plus 2.5β4% commission.
- Hours: you do not attend the meetings you book, so full US time-zone coverage is not required. Some overlap with the US team is.
