Make a real impact in UK Higher Education

The Higher Education sector continues to navigate financial pressures, evolving digital needs and changing student expectations. At Jisc, we support universities in responding to these challenges and making informed, confident decisions about their digital future.

We’re looking for an experienced Relationship Manager who can step straight into a senior‑facing role, build strategic partnerships, and help universities get the maximum value from their Jisc membership. We’re looking for someone who can step in confidently, engage senior leaders from the outset and contribute immediately to sector‑driven strategies and national priorities.

Why join Jisc?

You’ll be part of a team that is deeply committed to supporting the future of UK education. We’re trusted by the sector because we listen, we collaborate and we act with purpose. If you want a role where your work genuinely helps universities thrive – not just hit commercial targets – this is it.

The impact you’ll have

You’ll be the single point of contact for a portfolio of HE members, shaping how they engage with Jisc’s full range of digital services, data insights, cybersecurity solutions and sector programmes. Your work directly supports the sustainability of the sector and ensures universities can continue to deliver world‑class teaching, research and student experience.

You will combine strategic relationship management, sector advocacy and commercial growth, helping members solve real problems while identifying opportunities where Jisc’s products and services can support their priorities. It’s a consultative, insight‑led role that brings together trusted partnership working with thoughtful, needs‑based commercial growth.

The role involves regular travel to member sites across the UK, so you’ll need to be confident building relationships in person and representing Jisc effectively in a variety of senior‑level settings.

What you’ll be doing

  • Owning and developing strategic relationships with senior leaders across your HE portfolio
  • Understanding each member’s priorities, pressures and digital ambitions – and helping them maximise the value of their Jisc membership
  • Identifying opportunities to increase service uptake and generate new business in line with Jisc’s growth targets
  • Bringing back sector intelligence and member voice to influence Jisc’s strategy, product development and service improvement
  • Ensuring member satisfaction, resolving issues and advocating for their needs internally
  • Working collaboratively across Jisc to deliver a seamless, joined‑up experience
  • Supporting devolved nation priorities where relevant, working closely with national directors

What you’ll bring:Essential

  • A strong track record in relationship management with senior stakeholders
  • Proven success in sales, business development and account growth within a complex organisation
  • Experience achieving targets and KPIs
  • Ability to translate member needs into meaningful solutions
  • Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex issues clearly
  • Confidence working autonomously, managing a varied workload and travelling regularly to member sites
  • Digital literacy and the ability to quickly understand Jisc’s portfolio

Desirable

  • Experience in Higher Education, Further Education or the wider public sector
  • Understanding of Jisc’s member landscape and sector challenges
  • Experience working across multiple sites or regions
