About The Open Party
The Open Party is a new political party. Our mission is to radically improve democracy in the UK and thereby our governance. A cornerstone of the Party is opening up standing for elected office to the rich reserves of talent in the wider public who are not members of political parties (only 1.5% of the UK population are party members). The Open Party is not aligned to any political ideology. Candidates stand on their own agenda and priorities, but receive the campaigning, financing and advisory support of the Open Party to enable them to compete.
We are running our first pilot in Newport, South Wales. Members of the public who wish to stand as Open Party candidates take part in our public primary elections, where the public chooses who shall be Open Party candidates for the coming May 2026 Senedd elections. It is a radical new model of politics, putting participation at its heart.
We have existing external social media, PR and design professionals working externally to the Party. We are looking for someone to join our team who can coordinate and manage the execution of the full suite of campaigning activities, plus, depending on your skill set, bring some of these activities in-house. You will be part of a small team and critical to the creative process as well as the execution.
Is this for you?
This is a novel and exciting role, with a rare opportunity to demonstrate your capabilities on a public stage. It is suitable for someone who is ambitious and wants their next CV to stand out. We are looking for someone with experience who knows what they are doing and does not require significant mentoring. We are using all media channels, and so the successful candidate will need to demonstrate a track record of marketing experience across digital, printed, press and physical promotion. Political campaigning is reactive and fast; the person appointed must be comfortable with spinning plates and avoiding too many on the floor. We are looking for a practical do-er, not just a strategist; you will need technical capability - Premiere Pro, Illustrator, etc and will need to be independently capable, although not an expert. Finally, do you have flair and originality to create stand-out content, both visually and in copy? Ideally, you will be based in South Wales and have a strong understanding of the area and community around Newport. If you can tick 80% of these boxes, please get in touch.
