Financial Controller - 6 month Fixed Term Contract - potential for 12 months and maybe permanent after
Remote UK
£80,000 to £100,000 + Benefits
A global professional services business, that I have partnered with, with operations across 50+ countries is looking for a Financial Controller to own the EMEA finance function.
This is not a role for someone who wants to maintain a steady state. Please only apply if you are a fully qualified accountant with 10 or more years of finance leadership experience and a track record of delivering real transformation in complex, multi-entity, multi-currency environments.
This is for someone who can walk into a business, take ownership of the EMEA finance function, and immediately start building things that do not yet exist properly: financial models, forecasting frameworks, cost recovery models, and clear standards.
If you are looking for a large finance team around you and a clearly defined playbook to follow, this is not that environment.
If you want direct CFO access, genuine transformation scope, and the autonomy to rebuild a finance function the right way, read on.
The Role:
You will own financial control for the EMEA region. That means governance, reporting, treasury, and compliance across multiple European entities and currencies. But the work that will define this hire is the transformation.
This includes:
- Working with and leading the established shared service centre, setting the standard for how the finance function operates across the region
- Developing the financial modelling, forecasting, and cost recovery capability
- Overseeing the implementation of a new Salesforce-based global finance platform
- Managing multi-currency consolidation and monthly and annual financial reporting
- Partnering with the CFO on financial performance and deal solutioning
- Representing Finance in meetings with clients and prospects
- Managing external audits, banking relationships and tax advisors
You will be accountable for outcomes, not just activity.
The Environment:
EMEA finance operates as a lean, senior function within a larger global organisation.
That means:
- You are not one layer in a large finance hierarchy
- You will not have a team of specialists around you for every workstream
- You will be expected to own outcomes and step into the detail
There is significant transformation underway. The business is implementing new global technology and evolving how the finance function operates across the region. Change is constant and structure is evolving.
For the right person, this is an opportunity to shape how a global finance function operates.
For someone who needs established processes and a large support structure, this will feel uncomfortable.
Working Pattern:
Fully remote within the UK
What We Are Looking For:
You must have:
- Fully qualified accountant status (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- 10 or more years in a finance leadership role
- Multi-entity and multi-currency operational experience across at least 10 entities
- Experience in a high-volume, low-margin business environment
- Strong stakeholder management with the confidence to operate at CFO level
- Background in professional services, workforce solutions, contingent staffing, MSP or RPO environments
In your first three months you will:
- Own the financial control function and immediately establish governance and reporting standards
- Build strong working relationships with the shared service centre team and align on quality and reporting standards
- Build the financial modelling and forecasting framework the business currently lacks
- Establish yourself as the CFO's primary finance partner for EMEA
- Set the quality standard this function will operate to going forward
Why This Role
This is a visible, high-impact position within a global organisation at a moment of real change.
You will have direct access to the CFO and visibility at CEO level. You will influence financial strategy, not just report on it. You will build things from scratch and leave a function that operates materially better than the one you inherited.
The leadership culture here is one of genuine trust. No micromanagement. You are expected to commit to the business and own your outcomes.
If you have been operating in a finance role where your capability has outgrown your remit, this is the role that changes that.
Interview Process
- Stage 1: Interview with the HR Manager
- Stage 2: Interview with the CFO
- Stage 3: Interview with the CEO
