Project Description:
A premium US provider of live-TV, streaming, and on-demand entertainment is undertaking a multi-year modernization of the platforms that deliver thousands of channels and interactive services to more than 15 million households. Development is organized under the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and executed by blended client-and-vendor squads distributed across several Agile Release Trains in the United States, Europe, and LATAM. Engineering work spans cloud-native micro-services, and customer-facing applications running on web, mobile, and set-top boxes. The program emphasizes broadcast-grade reliability, strict DevOps/SRE discipline, and continuous delivery at national scale.
Responsibilities:
Execution & Delivery Assurance:
• Partner with Scrum Masters and Tech Leads to agree realistic sprint commitments, remove impediments, and keep carry-overs at or near zero.
• Supply accurate capacity, dependency, and risk inputs for PI-planning and ART syncs; monitor velocity, predictability, and cycle time, triggering corrective actions when thresholds are breached.
Hands-On Technical Leadership (≈ 50 % of time):
People & Line Management:
• Lead and develop 40-50 engineers across 4-6 blended client/vendor teams operating in multiple time zones.
• Run performance reviews, create growth plans, and foster a culture of psychological safety, craftsmanship, and continuous learning.
Stakeholder Engagement & Incident Management:
• Act as the primary engineering contact for client directors, Release Train Engineer, and internal leadership; communicate status, trade-offs, and escalations clearly and with data.
• Oversee incident triage and post-mortem for the teams, securing swift recovery, root-cause eradication, and transparent follow-up.
Mandatory Skills Description:
• 10 + years in software engineering, including at least 3 years managing 40 + engineers in distributed, mission-critical environments.
• Proven delivery of cloud-native, high-availability systems on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Deep familiarity with SAFe or comparable large-scale Agile frameworks; demonstrable history of ≥ 90 % sprint predictability and minimal carry-over across multiple PIs.
• Excellent stakeholder-management and communication skills; able to influence client directors and mentor senior technologists.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
Nice-to-Have Skills Description:
• SAFe certifications (SPC, RTE, APM, PO/PM, or SM).
• Familiarity with cost optimization and forecasting for large cloud workloads or engineering programs.
• Prior responsibility for multi-million-dollar engineering budgets, outsourcing contracts, or vendor-management agreements.
