Role Overview

The Head of Human Resources at Flat Rock is a leadership role managing and developing the HR team.Ā This role will be responsible for owning and delivering the full HR agenda across the organisation. This role will aid the CPO to lead HR operations, partner closely with senior leaders, develop high-performing managers, and design and roll out scalable people processes and strategic projects that support Flat Rock’s growth and culture.

The successful candidate will combine strong operational HR expertise with the ability to think strategically, lead change, and build management capability across the business.

Flat Rock is a small business, but we are growing.Ā We have offices in 7 locations and travel will be required for this role.

Key Responsibilities:HR Leadership & Strategy

  • Work with CPO to develop and implement the HR strategy aligned with Flat Rock’s business goals and growth plans.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the leadership team on all people-related matters.
  • Embed company values and culture through policies, processes, and leadership behaviours.

HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle

  • Oversee all core HR activities including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, reward, learning & development, and offboarding.
  • Ensure HR policies, and procedures are aligned across the business and regularly reviewed.
  • Own HR data, reporting, and insights to support decision-making.

Developing Managers

  • Design and deliver management development programmes to build leadership capability at all levels.
  • Coach and support managers to effectively lead teams, manage performance, and handle employee issues confidently.
  • Embed consistent people management practices across the organisation.
  • Support succession planning and talent development initiatives.

Process Improvement & Project Delivery

  • Drive HR projects such as performance frameworks, career pathways, engagement initiatives, and organisational design.
  • Ensure new processes are clearly communicated, adopted, and continuously improved.
  • Manage change effectively, ensuring minimal disruption and strong stakeholder buy-in.

Culture, Engagement & Performance

  • Drive employee engagement initiatives and continuous feedback mechanisms.
  • Support a high-performance culture through clear expectations, regular reviews, and development planning.
  • Champion wellbeing, inclusion, and employee experience initiatives.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in a HR leadership role (Senior HR Manager/HR Manager).
  • Strong generalist HR background with experience managing the full HR lifecycle.
  • Strong L&D experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing managers and leadership capability.
  • Proven track record of rolling out new processes, projects, or HR systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Employee Engagement and HR best practice.
  • Commercially minded with the ability to balance people needs and business priorities.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
