A confidential UK law firm is seeking experienced consultant immigration solicitors to assist on a remote, case-by-case basis as and when work is available. This is not a salaried or guaranteed-hours position. The role is suitable for qualified immigration solicitors who have capacity to undertake legal casework when instructed.
The firm will remain responsible for the client relationship as a whole, including administration, onboarding, compliance processes, file management systems, and operational support. The successful consultant will be instructed to carry out legal casework and fee earner duties on assigned matters only.
Role Description
This is a remote consultancy role for an experienced Immigration Solicitor. Work will be offered only when available, and there is no obligation on the firm to provide a minimum volume of work. Likewise, the consultant may confirm availability before accepting any instruction.
The consultant solicitor will be responsible for carrying out the legal work on assigned immigration matters, including taking instructions, advising clients, assessing merits, preparing and completing applications, drafting legal representations, dealing with the Home Office and other relevant authorities, and, where required, representing clients in appeals or court proceedings, subject to rights of audience and professional rules.
The firm will provide administrative, compliance, and systems support. The consultant will work alongside the firm’s admin team and internal systems, but the legal casework itself must be carried out by the consultant solicitor.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle assigned UK immigration casework on a consultancy basis
- Take client instructions and provide legal advice
- Assess evidence and merits of applications or claims
- Prepare and submit immigration applications and supporting documents
- Draft legal representations, letters, statements, and application forms
- Deal with the Home Office, tribunals, courts, and other relevant bodies where required
- Keep clear attendance notes and case records
- Work in cooperation with the firm’s admin and compliance systems
- Progress matters professionally, efficiently, and in accordance with regulatory obligations
- Confirm availability before accepting new case instructions
Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales
- Strong experience in UK immigration law
- Ability to manage immigration casework independently
- Strong drafting, advisory, and client care skills
- Ability to work remotely and respond promptly when accepting instructions
- Commitment to professional standards, confidentiality, and compliance
- Ability to work collaboratively with administrative support staff and follow firm processes

- No minimum volume of work is guaranteed
