About the position

The Senior Manager, People & Culture (P&C) serves as the primary Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) for the US supporting the Head of People & Culture in leading P&C initiatives within the US, driving well aligned strategic initiatives that support talent acquisition, people performance, employee engagement, HR operations and compliance.

Based in the US, this role will be both operational and strategic in nature, partnering with a diverse mix of functions ensuring P&C strategies align with the company’s mission, values, and growth objectives.

Reports to: Head of People & Culture, Australia & US who is based in Australia.

Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesTalent acquisition

  • Lead talent acquisition (TA), onboarding, and retention strategies to attract and retain top talent.
  • Develop and execute cost-effective TA strategies and manage the end-to-end process, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, and onboarding.

HR Policy, Operations and Compliance

  • Draft, review and update US HR policies and procedures as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations both in Australia and in the United States.
  • Identify and implement required HR systems and analytics to support general operations and strategic decision making.
  • Ensure HR practices adhere to corporate governance standards and comply with disclosure requirements for a publicly listed company.

Employee relations

  • Foster a positive work environment through effective communication and conflict resolution.
  • Address employee concerns, grievances, and disciplinary issues in a fair and consistent manner.

Performance Management

  • Support and oversee performance management processes, including but not limited to goal setting, performance reviews, and development plans.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers in addressing performance-related issues.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Provide support in managing the annual remuneration review process.
  • Administer compensation and benefits programs, ensuring competitiveness and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Drive the annual US healthcare benefit program and enrollment.
  • Conduct salary benchmarking exercises as appropriate.

Employee Engagement

  • Partner with Head, P&C and senior leadership to shape company culture and drive employee engagement.
  • Conduct pulse check surveys and feedback sessions to measure and improve workplace engagement.

Other

  • Provide ad hoc support relating to any payroll, tax, health insurance, 401K and US state legislation queries.
  • Support additional P&C related projects and activities as required.
  • Comfortable working across both US and Australian time zones.

About you

  • Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive HR experience.
  • Proven experience in talent acquisition, change management, and employee engagement.
  • Experience working in the biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industry strongly preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of US labor laws and HR best practices.
  • Proven ability to support and/or lead organizational change and scale HR operations in a growing company.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and problem-solving skills while working under strict timelines.
