Children’s Book Illustrator – Freelance

A personal project requires a creative Children’s Book Illustrator to bring a family-inspired counting story to life. The book follows a young girl (around 6–8 years old) as she walks along a beach in Spain, counting dogs she encounters. The artwork should capture an innocent, confident, and happy tone with a nostalgic, retro feel. The illustrations must be engaging for young readers, balancing charm and clarity while conveying warmth and joy. This is a single-project freelance opportunity with a delivery timeline of 1–2 months. Remote collaboration is welcome.

Responsibilities

• Illustrate a children’s counting book centered on a young girl’s journey along a Spanish beach
• Create visuals that convey a nostalgic yet joyful retro-inspired aesthetic
• Design characters, settings, and scenes that are clear, engaging, and age-appropriate for young readers
• Maintain consistency of style across all illustrations and book pages
• Deliver high-resolution artwork suitable for both print and digital publishing formats
• Incorporate feedback and revisions to align with the client’s vision for the project

Skills and Requirements

• Strong illustration skills with a portfolio showcasing children’s book or character-driven artwork
• Ability to create artwork with a nostalgic, hand-drawn feel (digitally refined work also acceptable)
• Experience illustrating for young audiences, with an understanding of what engages children visually
• Creative storytelling ability through images, capturing innocence and confidence in characters
• Proficiency in traditional or digital illustration tools (e.g., Procreate, Photoshop, Illustrator, or hand-drawn scanned work)
• Reliability in meeting deadlines, with availability to complete the project within 1–2 months
• Open to beginner, junior, and mid-level illustrators, provided the style matches the project vision
