Mechanical Design Engineer - Remote

Were looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a dynamic and well-established building services consultancy on a contract basis. This is a fully remote role, offering flexibility while contributing to a range of technically challenging and rewarding projects. Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed mechanical designs for building services systems (HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation, etc.)
• Deliver accurate calculations, specifications, and reports using industry-standard software
• Collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary teams including electrical, sustainability, and project managers
• Participate in design reviews and ensure compliance with current standards and regulations
• Support the delivery of design packages for RIBA stages 24
• Maintain high technical standards while meeting project deadlines

Desirable Experience

• Demonstrable experience working on educational buildings (schools, colleges, etc.)
• Strong understanding of current UK building regulations and CIBSE guidelines
• Proficiency in mechanical design software such as Hevacomp, IES, or Revit MEP

Requirements

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services
• Minimum 5 years' experience in mechanical building services design
• Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a remote setting
• Good communication skills and the ability to contribute effectively to virtual design teams

Contract Details

• 6-month initial contract with potential for extension
• Remote working must have suitable home setup and availability during core business hours
• Rate: Negotiable, depending on experience
