As an Audio Visual System Designer, you will influence system architecture and technical delivery from initial customer requirements and pre-sales engineering through installation, commissioning, and final documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with sales teams and customers to define project requirements, technical needs, and desired functionality.
- Develop AV system concepts, scopes of work, system architectures, equipment specifications, and accurate bills of materials.
- Review architectural drawings, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, floor plans, and construction documents.
- Produce installation-ready engineering documentation, including rack elevations, device layouts, signal flow diagrams, block diagrams, wire diagrams, and cable schedules.
- Document audio, video, control, network, and power connections, along with equipment mounting and labeling requirements.
- Coordinate AV designs with architectural, electrical, mechanical, IT, networking, and other trade partners.
- Provide technical support to project management, programmers, installers, manufacturers, distributors, and customers throughout installation and commissioning.
- Revise drawings based on field conditions and project changes while maintaining accurate as-built documentation.
Must-Have Skills:
- Five or more years of experience in commercial AV integration, system design, engineering, or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to design commercial AV systems from concept through installation.
- Strong knowledge of audio, video, control, DSP, networking, AV infrastructure, and commercial AV equipment.
- Experience developing scopes of work, bills of materials, equipment specifications, and detailed engineering documentation.
- Proficiency interpreting architectural and construction drawings and producing professional CAD-based documentation.
- Working knowledge of IP addressing, VLANs, DHCP, multicast, IGMP, PoE, QoS, networked AV, and Dante networking.
- Hands-on experience with commercial AV platforms such as Crestron, Q-SYS, Biamp, and Dante.
- Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and project coordination skills.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- AVIXA CTS-D or AVIXA CTS certification.
- Crestron, Q-SYS, Biamp, or Dante certifications.
- Experience with AutoCAD, D-Tools, Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Office, and Excel.
- Familiarity with Revit, BIM workflows, AV-over-IP, video conferencing, digital signage, and video distribution.
- Experience coordinating directly with customer IT and networking teams.
- Additional networking certifications or manufacturer training.
- Experience participating in site surveys, technical presentations, and occasional field activities.
