About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Data Analyst to join our Servicing Analytics team. In this pivotal role, you will influence key aspects of Upstart’s servicing functions by providing advanced analytical support to drive data-driven decision-making and operational efficiency. You will work closely with product management, operations, engineering, and machine learning teams to develop insights, optimize recovery and collection strategies, and enhance our data infrastructure. Your responsibilities include conducting in-depth analyses, designing and executing experiments such as A/B tests, building and maintaining business intelligence pipelines, and creating executive-level reports and presentations. You will play a crucial role in identifying opportunities for improvement, supporting strategic initiatives, and mentoring junior team members. Your contributions will directly impact our ability to deliver smarter, fairer lending solutions and improve the customer experience.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in senior analytical roles within the technology and finance industries
- Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, and/or R for data analysis and modeling
- Extensive experience working with large datasets, unstructured data, and data pipelines using tools like Databricks, DBT, Snowflake, Redshift, Looker, Tableau, or Mode
- Degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Data Science, or a related quantitative field
- Proven ability to derive actionable insights and communicate analytical findings effectively
- Experience in payments, product, or operations analytics is highly desirable
- Experience designing and evaluating A/B tests, particularly in financial or operational contexts
- Ability to craft executive-level narratives around complex data and influence decision-making at senior levels
- Strong collaboration skills, with a track record of working cross-functionally and mentoring junior team members
- Lead the development of analytical capabilities to support servicing initiatives and improve operational efficiency
- Create and deliver regular executive presentations to communicate insights, findings, and strategic recommendations
- Design and conduct experiments, including A/B tests, to evaluate hypotheses related to user behavior and servicing processes
- Partner with analytics engineering and software engineering teams to enhance data infrastructure, ensuring timely access to relevant data as the business evolves
- Develop and maintain business intelligence tools and dashboards to support ongoing reporting and decision-making
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational enhancements through data analysis
- Mentor and guide junior analysts, fostering a culture of analytical excellence and innovation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritize projects and initiatives that maximize organizational impact
