Role Overview
This role is responsible for driving revenue growth by identifying, winning, and expanding transportation and logistics accounts. The Business Development Manager owns the full sales cycle and is accountable for new business development, account growth, and meeting defined revenue targets.
Success is measured by revenue performance, pipeline health, and long-term customer growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate new revenue by prospecting, qualifying, and closing new transportation and logistics customers
- Develop and execute a structured sales plan to consistently build pipeline and close business
- Open new accounts by establishing relationships with decision-makers and senior-level contacts
- Grow revenue within existing accounts through upselling and cross-selling opportunities
- Lead pricing discussions and contract negotiations to secure profitable agreements
- Forecast customer activity and revenue accurately and report pipeline progress to management
- Collaborate with operations and leadership to ensure customer expectations are met and revenue is protected
- Maintain accurate customer and pipeline data in CRM and transportation management systems
- Resolve customer issues effectively to support retention and long-term growth
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of sales or business development experience in logistics or transportation
- Proven ability to generate new business and close deals
- Strong prospecting, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Knowledge of logistics, supply chain management, and cargo transportation
- Ability to work independently and consistently meet sales targets
- Experience using CRM and sales tracking tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Logistics, or a related field
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Valid driver’s license in good standing
