Senior Backend Engineer (Go / Golang)

Prime Zero is an early-stage Brisbane-based startup building crypto-native B2B infrastructure for the global iGaming industry.

We’re looking for a senior backend engineer who can build context quickly, navigate unfamiliar systems, and take ownership of how things evolve. You’ll join a small, high-performing, cross-functional team working on meaningful backend problems from design through to production.

You won’t be starting from scratch. Our platform builds on the proven foundations of an existing sportsbook and casino platform that has already been battle-tested in production, with high demands on correctness, reliability, and latency.

This is a fully remote role open to candidates based anywhere in Australia.

Role & Responsibilities

- Design, build, and maintain scalable, event-driven backend systems

- Own backend delivery end-to-end, from design through to production and monitoring

- Improve performance, reliability, and scalability across high-throughput backend systems

- Contribute pragmatic technical input on service design and system evolution

- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code

- Collaborate effectively through code review, design discussions, and shared problem-solving

Requirements

- 5+ years of experience building production systems with Golang

- Experience with AWS and cloud-native architectures

- Experience deploying and running services in Kubernetes

- Experience working with PostgreSQL in production

- Experience with message-driven or event-driven architectures

- Experience building high-throughput, low-latency APIs

- Strong debugging, performance, and systems thinking skills

- Open to agentic coding tools, while maintaining strong engineering judgment

- Ability to work autonomously in a remote environment

- Experience working in small, fast-moving product teams

Bonus Points

- Experience with TypeScript, React, and Next.js

- Experience with cryptography or blockchain-based systems

- Background in high-throughput or low-latency domains such as iGaming, fintech, or trading
