Volunteer VR Developer (3D Modeling) – Educational Game UniverseAbout Us

At NWG , we’re building an immersive educational VR universe that blends learning, storytelling, and interactive exploration. Our multidisciplinary team is passionate about leveraging VR to inspire curiosity and creativity in learners of all ages. We’re now expanding our team with a talented VR Developer specializing in 3D Modeling to help bring our worlds, characters, and learning assets to life.

The Role

We’re searching for a 3D-focused VR developer who loves crafting immersive environments and assets—directly in VR and through traditional modeling tools. You’ll work closely with our Game Designer, our VR Programmers, and the broader creative team to develop models that fit seamlessly into our Unity-based educational universe.

This is an ideal role for someone who wants to grow their portfolio, experiment with VR creation tools, and contribute to a meaningful learning project.

What You’ll Do

  • Create immersive 3D assets (characters, props, environments) using VR sculpting tools and desktop modeling software.
  • Collaborate with the Game Designer to translate educational concepts into visually engaging models.
  • Work with VR Programmers to ensure assets are optimized and integrate smoothly into Unity.
  • Optimize asset geometry for VR performance (clean topology, low poly where needed, efficient UVs).
  • Prepare and import models into Unity or Unreal (Unity preferred), ensuring correct scaling, lighting, and physics behavior.
  • Contribute creatively to world-building, asset style, storytelling and interactive mechanics.
  • Help maintain consistency across the visual language of our educational game universe.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong skills in 3D modeling, ideally both in VR tools (Shapelab, Adobe Medium, Gravity Sketch, etc.) and traditional software (Blender, Maya, 3ds Max).
  • Understanding of VR-specific modeling constraints (polycount, topology, performance).
  • Experience optimizing models for Unity (or Unreal Engine).
  • A passion for immersive learning, games, or interactive storytelling.
  • Ability to collaborate in a remote, creative team environment.
  • A portfolio showcasing previous 3D or VR-related work (required).
  • Reliability - this is a volunteer role, therefore no requirements in terms of availability, but enthusiasm and work matters.

What You’ll Gain

  • The chance to shape an educational VR universe.
  • Experience working with a cross-functional team.
  • Portfolio-ready assets and real-world production experience.
  • Creative freedom to experiment, prototype, and explore new ideas.
  • A collaborative environment where your voice and creativity are valued.

We look forward to meeting the creative mind(s) who will help us build the future of climate learning.

Warm regards,
