Job Overview:
As a Business Development Specialist at Little Birdy, you will be responsible for driving new client acquisition through a mix of outbound outreach, relationship-building, and strategic partnerships. This is a high-impact role focused on generating qualified opportunities and building a strong, sustainable pipeline of hiring partners. This position is ideal for someone with 1–3 years of experience in sales, business development, or recruitment who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. You will work closely with leadership and recruiters to shape how we approach growth, refine our Ideal Customer Profile, and build scalable business development strategies. This is a remote position, with some in-person expectations including client meetings, networking events, and occasional travel. The ideal candidate will start as an independent contractor (1099), with a compensation structure that includes a fixed monthly base plus performance-based commission tied to revenue generated.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Development: Identify and engage prospective clients through targeted outreach (email, LinkedIn, events, referrals), focusing on high-quality, well-qualified opportunities.
- Pipeline Generation: Own the top of the funnel by creating and managing a consistent pipeline of qualified leads and booked client meetings.
- Client Qualification: Evaluate prospective clients against Little Birdy’s Ideal Customer Profile to ensure strong alignment and high likelihood of conversion.
- Partnership & Referral Development: Build and nurture relationships with founders, operators, senior candidates, and strategic partners to generate warm introductions and referral-based business.
- Market Research: Stay informed on hiring trends, industry shifts, and competitive landscape to identify new opportunities and refine outreach strategies.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the recruitment team to ensure smooth handoff of qualified opportunities and alignment on client needs.
- Performance Tracking: Maintain accurate records of outreach, pipeline activity, and conversion metrics within the company CRM (Folk), and continuously optimize performance based on data.
Qualifications:
- 1–3 years of experience in business development or sales within the recruitment industry
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to engage and build trust with founders and senior stakeholders.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and highly goal-oriented.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and building processes from the ground up.
- Experience with outbound sales (cold email, LinkedIn outreach, networking) preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a pipeline independently.
- A self-driven, output-oriented mindset with a focus on results.
- Experience using CRM tools and tracking performance metrics.
