About the role

We are looking for an experienced and reliable Finance Manager to volunteer with our charity, supporting the senior management team and helping us maintain strong financial oversight as our organization continues to develop.


This is an opportunity for someone with solid financial experience who would like to use their professional skills to support an international charity and make a direct difference to our work.


The role can be carried out remotely from the UK and offers flexibility around your existing work and commitments.


Responsibilities
  • Work closely with senior management on financial planning, budgeting and financial strategy.
  • Oversee financial accounting, reconciliation of accounts and forecasting.
  • Monitor income and expenditure and help ensure strong financial controls and procedures.
  • Prepare clear, regular financial reports and key financial metrics for senior management and trustees.
  • Lead or participate in financial meetings and provide advice and guidance on financial decisions.
  • Review financial information and highlight trends, risks and areas requiring attention.
  • Support the organisation with budgeting and longer-term financial planning.
  • Help ensure that financial records and reporting are accurate, well organised and maintained to a high standard.


The ideal candidate

We are looking for someone who is:

  • An experienced finance professional, accountant, Finance Manager or similar.
  • Able to commit to 2-4 hrs minimum a week
  • Ideally experienced in working with a charity, NGO or other not-for-profit organisation.
  • Comfortable working with financial data, analysing information and turning it into clear, practical advice.
  • Able to act as a trusted financial adviser and business partner to senior management.
  • Highly organised, analytical and detail-oriented.
  • Confident communicating financial information to people who may not have a financial background.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, as well as Word, Outlook and PowerPoint along with the system of liberty.
  • Able to work independently and remotely while maintaining regular communication with the team.


Experience
  • A degree or professional qualification in Finance, Accounting or a related field is desirable.
  • 5–7 years' relevant professional experience would be ideal, although we would also welcome applications from highly experienced finance professionals who have gained their expertise through other routes.
  • Charity or international NGO finance experience would be an advantage.
