Your new company
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Company Accountant to join a growing SME on a 5‑month contract (July – November 2026) to cover a period of parental leave. This is a fully remote, standalone finance role, suited to someone who thrives in a hands‑on environment and is confident taking full ownership of the finance function.
Your new role
Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be responsible for the end‑to‑end finance function, acting as the sole finance resource within the business.
This is a true hands‑on role, balancing both transactional delivery and financial reporting.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing all day‑to‑day accounting activities including AP, AR and general ledger
- Processing invoicing, collections and supplier payments
- End‑to‑end payroll processing and compliance
- Preparing monthly management accounts and financial reporting
- Managing cashflow forecasting and working capital
- Preparing and lodging BAS, PAYG, payroll tax and statutory obligations
- Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes
- Monitoring inventory and reconciliations
- Coordinating audit and external reporting requirements
- Providing commercial insights and reporting to support business decisions
What you'll need to succeed
- CA/CPA qualified (or qualified by experience)
- Proven experience working in a sole‑charge or small business finance role
- Comfortable managing end‑to‑end accounting autonomously
- Strong hands‑on capability, including transactional processing
- Excellent understanding of Australian tax and compliance requirements
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment
- Strong organisation skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Experience within SME or growing business environments highly regarded
