Senior Data Analyst (Strategy & Program)

Location: Remote, United States

Work Arrangement: Fully Remote

Base Salary: $100,000–$140,000

About the Company

We are partnering with a mission-driven nonprofit organization focused on addressing complex social and economic challenges through data, research, and evidence-based decision-making.

The organization works closely with public agencies, community organizations, and institutional partners to identify opportunities for meaningful, measurable improvements in areas such as housing, healthcare, economic mobility, and public safety.

By combining rigorous analytics with real-world implementation, the organization helps decision-makers understand complex challenges, prioritize resources, and develop strategies that improve outcomes for underserved communities.

About the Role

We are seeking Senior Data Analysts to join a growing Strategic Analytics team, with opportunities across both Strategy and Program Analytics.

These are hands-on analytical positions focused on solving complex, real-world problems using public, administrative, and internal datasets. Both roles involve navigating messy or incomplete data, developing reproducible analyses, and translating findings into actionable recommendations that influence important organizational and program-level decisions.

Depending on experience and background, candidates may align with one of two areas:

  • Strategy Analytics: Work across multiple initiatives, tackling broad and often ambiguous questions from organizational leadership and external stakeholders. This track emphasizes advanced statistical methods, public and administrative data expertise, independent analytical judgment, and developing evidence-based recommendations that inform broader strategic priorities.
  • Program Analytics: Serve as a dedicated analytical partner to a specific program, such as housing, maternal health, or public safety. This track emphasizes hands-on analytics, understanding program objectives and stakeholder needs, and using data to improve ongoing program strategy, operations, and decision-making.

Both opportunities offer significant analytical ownership, direct exposure to decision-makers, and the ability to apply technical skills to challenges with meaningful community impact.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with organizational leaders, program teams, and external stakeholders to translate complex questions into structured analytical projects.
  • Identify, collect, clean, and integrate data from publicly available, administrative, and internal sources.
  • Analyze complex, messy, and incomplete datasets to identify trends, relationships, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Use Python, SQL, and relevant analytical tools to develop models, investigate problems, and produce reliable analytical outputs.
  • Apply appropriate statistical and quantitative methods to evaluate data, test assumptions, and support evidence-based recommendations.
  • Develop reproducible analyses, well-documented code, decision memos, and analytical summaries that support leadership and program decisions.
  • Evaluate data quality, analytical limitations, and the reliability of findings to ensure conclusions are supported by available evidence.
  • Translate complex analytical findings into clear, practical recommendations for stakeholders.
  • Support strategic initiatives or become a dedicated analytical partner to a program team, depending on role alignment.

What We're Looking For

  • 3–5+ years of applied analytics experience, ideally within a top-tier strategy consulting firm, analytics consulting firm, or economic consulting firm. Candidates who have led substantial analytical work within high-growth startups or agencies will also be considered.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical foundation, with experience applying statistical or analytical methods to complex, real-world problems.
  • Professional experience using Python or SQL, including querying, building, and delivering analytical solutions.
  • Hands-on experience working with complex, messy datasets, including data cleaning, integration, validation, and interpretation.
  • Ability to translate ambiguous problems into structured analytical approaches and develop actionable recommendations that support strategic or operational decisions.
  • Experience communicating analytical findings to stakeholders, helping leadership understand insights, limitations, and potential courses of action.

Additional emphasis for Strategy Analytics:

  • Strong statistical expertise, including regression, sampling and weighting, hypothesis testing, missing-data analysis, and interpreting margins of error.
  • Hands-on experience with complex public or administrative datasets, with approximately six months or more of relevant experience.
  • Experience developing reproducible, well-commented analytical code.
  • Strong independent analytical judgment, including the ability to select appropriate methods and determine what conclusions the available evidence can support.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with public and administrative datasets such as Census/ACS, CDC, Department of Education, criminal justice, public health, or other government data sources. Required for the Strategy track, preferred for Program Analytics.
  • Experience with program evaluation, quasi-experimental methods, or causal inference.
  • Familiarity with R for statistical analysis or research.
  • Previous experience in housing, maternal health, public safety, criminal justice, or related social impact areas.
  • Geographic or spatial analysis experience.
  • Data visualization and reporting experience.
  • Background working with nonprofit organizations, government agencies, or public policy research.
  • Experience using AI-assisted research and analytical workflows, including LLM-assisted coding, thematic analysis, and output validation.

Why This Role?

This opportunity combines challenging analytical work with the ability to influence meaningful, real-world decisions.

Rather than focusing primarily on routine reporting or dashboard maintenance, you will help answer complex questions, evaluate evidence, and develop insights that influence how organizations and public agencies prioritize resources and improve outcomes.

You will join a small Strategic Analytics team where your contributions will have direct visibility, with opportunities to take ownership of analytical projects from initial problem definition through final recommendations.

Whether your strengths lie in advanced statistical analysis and cross-organizational strategy or hands-on analytics and deep program partnership, these roles offer the opportunity to apply your expertise to problems that directly affect communities.

Location & Schedule

This is a fully remote opportunity within the United States, with a base salary range of $100,000–$140,000.

Applicants must be U.S. Citizens or Green Card Holders.
