A single family office is seeking an experienced Controller to lead financial strategy, planning, and reporting across a diversified portfolio of investments, entities, and personal holdings. This is a hands-on leadership role for a finance executive who is equally comfortable building sophisticated financial models and projections as they are advising principals on high-level strategy. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in investment management, financial planning & analysis, and multi-entity financial oversight, with the judgment and discretion required in a family office setting.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Planning & Projections
- Build and maintain detailed financial models, cash flow projections, and scenario analyses across the family's operating entities, investment vehicles, and personal balance sheet
- Develop long-term capital planning and liquidity forecasts to support investment decisions, distributions, and major expenditures
- Partner with principals on budgeting, forecasting, and financial goal-setting
Accounting & Reporting
- Oversee consolidated financial reporting across multiple entities (LLCs, trusts, holding companies, personal accounts)
- Ensure timely, accurate monthly / quarterly reporting packages for the principals
- Manage relationships with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors; oversee tax planning and compliance coordination
Investment Oversight
- Support due diligence, monitoring, and performance tracking across private equity, private credit, real estate, and other alternative investment holdings
- Assist both internal and external legal counsel with due diligence efforts
- Track capital calls, distributions, and fund-level reporting from external managers
- Evaluate new investment opportunities alongside principals and outside advisors
Operations & Governance
- Design and maintain internal controls, treasury processes, and risk management practices appropriate for a family office
- Manage banking, lending, and custodial relationships
- Oversee bill pay, payroll, and back-office functions (directly or via outsourced providers)
- Support estate planning, trust administration, and philanthropic entity financials in coordination with legal counsel
- 5+ years of progressive finance experience, including significant exposure to investment management, private wealth, or alternative assets (private equity, private credit, real estate, or hedge funds)
- Prior Controller or senior finance leadership experience, ideally within a family office, RIA, or investment firm
- Advanced financial modeling and projection skills; expert-level Excel required
- Strong working knowledge of multi-entity accounting, partnership structures, and tax considerations relevant to high-net-worth families
- Must be a CPA (Big 4 background preferred, but not required)
- Must have tax experience
- Demonstrated discretion, integrity, and comfort operating in a confidential, high-trust environment
- Excellent communication skills; able to translate complex financial information for non-finance principals
- Self-starter comfortable working remotely and independently
- Must have flexibility to travel as needed (Florida-based candidates preferred for ease of coordination)
