Job Title: Technology Talent Business Partner

Location: McLean, VA preferred but remote

Salary: $110,000 – $120,000 annually

Job overview:

The Sr. Talent Business Partner serves as a strategic advisor and partner to business leaders across various functions, providing expertise in talent acquisition, development, retention, and workforce planning. This role bridges the gap between talent strategy and business objectives, ensuring alignment with the company's goals and culture. It partners with senior leaders to develop and implement programs that attract, retain, and develop high-performing talent while fostering a culture that supports organizational growth and innovation.

Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Talent Alignment
  • Partner with business leaders to identify current and future talent needs aligned with strategic goals.
  • Analyze and interpret workforce data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and implement initiatives to enhance organizational effectiveness and team performance.
  1. Talent and Workforce Planning
  • Collaborate with leaders to forecast workforce needs and develop long-term strategies for headcount, skills, and capabilities.
  • Work closely with hiring managers and talent acquisition teams to create effective recruitment strategies.
  1. Performance Management
  • Lead efforts to support the performance management process, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Advise leaders on pay-for-performance best practices, including setting expectations, providing regular feedback, and managing underperformance.
  1. Talent Development and Retention
  • Collaborate with learning and development teams to assess skill gaps and build career development plans.
  • Guide managers on performance management practices, career development, and succession planning.
  • Promote employee engagement through feedback initiatives, survey data analysis, and action planning.
  1. Talent Operations and Employee Relations
  • Provide guidance on talent policies, employee relations, and conflict resolution.
  • Partner with leaders to manage performance improvement plans, promotions, and organizational changes.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and organizational policies.
  • Collaborate with Talent teams on compensation, benefits, and rewards programs.
  1. Talent Metrics & Analytics
  • Monitor key workforce metrics such as turnover, retention, engagement, and development program effectiveness.
  • Use data-driven insights to inform talent decisions and strategies.
  • Review talent metrics regularly with leadership to identify trends and develop action plans.
  1. Change Management
  • Act as a change agent, guiding teams through organizational transitions and cultural shifts.
  • Partner with leaders to implement programs that enhance productivity, morale, and retention.
  • Address challenges related to team dynamics, leadership coaching, and conflict resolution.
  • Build trust and credibility by fostering open communication and responsiveness.
  1. Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Collaborate, coordinate, and communicate across disciplines and departments to promote engagement strategies and talent development.
  1. Compliance and Risk Management
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and requirements.
  • Due to exposure to PHI sensitive data, this role is classified as High Risk.
  1. Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or necessary.

AREAS OF EMPHASIS FOR CANDIDATES

  • Priority is given to candidates with a technology background, not solely healthcare experience.
  • Candidates should be strategic thinkers but comfortable being hands-on when needed.
  • Must be able to handle strong personalities, particularly in areas like finance and legal.
  • Desired candidates have an "alpha" personality—comfortable with challenging conversations and pulling data to support decisions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business, Psychology, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in HR roles, including HR business partnering, talent management, or organizational development.
  • Proven success partnering with corporate leaders and business units on talent strategies; technology sector experience highly preferred.
  • Strategic thinker capable of aligning talent initiatives with business objectives.
  • Experience in fast-paced, high-growth, or matrixed organizations is a plus.
  • Strong consultative and coaching skills with the ability to influence leaders and employees.
  • Proficiency in HR technology, analytics tools, and workforce planning software; advanced Excel skills highly desired.
  • In-depth knowledge of HR laws, compliance, and best practices.
  • Collaborative mindset, building partnerships to meet shared objectives.
  • SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or other relevant HR certifications preferred.
  • Required licensures, professional certifications, and/or Board certifications as applicable.
  • Ability to work in a standard office environment requiring extended periods of sitting and use of office equipment such as keyboards, copiers, and telephones.
