Business Development Manager — Digital Commerce & Acquiring (EU)
Location: EU (remote within the EEA, or hybrid at an EU hub)
Company: Centranx
Type: Full-time
About us
Centranx, licensed by the MFSA as a payment institution, is now operating as a principal member of both Visa and Mastercard. We hold our own regulatory and technical stack, offering digital-first merchants direct processing, flexible API integrations, fraud management, and streamlined onboarding built for modern e-commerce.
The role
We're looking for a commercial, tech-savvy Business Development Manager to accelerate our merchant acquiring footprint across the European Union. You'll be positioning an end-to-end acquiring infrastructure to mid-market and enterprise e-commerce merchants.
This role is focused on driving growth within the low-risk digital commerce sector. We're looking for someone who understands interchange models, alternative payment methods (APMs) and PSD2/SCA compliance, and who knows how to optimise payment performance for high-volume, stable and sustainable businesses.
Key responsibilities
- Pipeline generation: identify and close mid-market to enterprise-level low-risk e-commerce merchants across the EEA, focused on e-retail, digital goods, travel and hospitality
- Value-driven positioning: analyse merchant statements to design acquiring solutions on our unified API, focused on authorisation rates, cart abandonment and total cost of acceptance
- Deal structuring: work with Risk and Compliance to structure pricing models (Interchange++, blended, tiered) that keep margins healthy
- Ecosystem networking: use our relationships with platforms, system integrators, shopping carts and web agencies to build indirect inbound channels
- Market intelligence: feed market insight back to the team on payment features and pricing shifts
Who you are
- A payments professional with 3–5 years of business development experience in e-commerce merchant acquiring, gained at an EMI, an acquirer, or a high-growth PayTech company
- Deeply familiar with the low-risk digital commerce landscape, competing on technical features, platform stability and pricing rather than higher-risk arbitrage
- A proven dealmaker, with a track record of building sustainable, high-volume merchant portfolios and low chargeback and fraud ratios across mainstream industries
- Experienced across both direct and indirect sales channels, comfortable closing merchants directly as well as building business through partners and referral networks
- Well-versed in how a transaction actually works, from routing and 3DS2 authentication through to scheme rules and settlement cycles
- Comfortable navigating internal KYC, AML and risk frameworks to advocate for a merchant while protecting the institution
- Fluent in English, written and spoken. An additional major European language (German, French, Spanish or Italian) is an advantage
What we offer
- Competitive base salary with an uncapped commission structure directly tied to your portfolio's processing volume
- Flexible working model (remote or hybrid across EU time zones)
- Pathways to leadership as our commercial footprint expands
- The advantage of selling as a principal member with direct processing capabilities and a responsive compliance team built for clean, low-risk corporate onboarding
- Comprehensive healthcare
- A modern tech allowance
