We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer / BI Expert to design, develop and improve data platforms, pipelines, databases and reporting solutions supporting an international data ecosystem.
The position combines Data Engineering, Data Platforms and Business Intelligence, with a particular focus on scalable and well-governed solutions.
About the Client
Our client is a major international organisation operating within healthcare and the public sector, using data platforms, analytics and digital systems to support global and country-level programmes.
The technology landscape includes modern cloud data platforms, enterprise databases, automated workflows and business intelligence solutions.
What you'll do
- Design and develop scalable data pipelines and workflows.
- Build and maintain ETL/ELT processes.
- Integrate multiple data sources and systems.
- Develop and optimise databases and data models.
- Support modern cloud-based data platforms.
- Build dashboards, visualisations and analytical reporting solutions.
- Implement automated and semi-automated data workflows.
- Ensure technical documentation, traceability and data quality.
- Collaborate with Data Analysts, Governance Experts and Project Leads.
What we're looking for
- Strong experience as Data Engineer, BI Engineer, Data Platform Engineer or BI Consultant.
- Strong SQL skills.
- Experience with ETL/ELT, data pipelines and database technologies.
- Experience with cloud data environments.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure and/or Microsoft Fabric is highly valued.
- Experience with Azure Data Factory is a strong advantage.
- Experience with Power BI or equivalent visualisation platforms.
- Understanding of APIs, system integrations and interoperability.
- Python experience is advantageous.
- Excellent English.
Experience working with enterprise or institutional data platforms will be particularly relevant.
Working Model
- 🇵🇹 Portugal-based candidates only — applications from candidates currently based outside Portugal will not be considered
- 🏠 Remote from Portugal
- 🕘 European working hours (CET/CEST)
- 🌍 Collaboration within a highly international and multidisciplinary environment
- Candidates must already have the legal right to work in Portugal. Visa sponsorship is not available for these positions.
Recruitment Process
Our process is straightforward and designed to move quickly:

- Final Project Confirmation & Offer – Final engagement will be subject to project award, specific project requirements and final confirmation
