About ASHR
AmeriSource HR Consulting Group (ASHR) is a Phoenix-based HR and payroll consulting firm serving clients through two lines of business: Managed Services, which handles outsourced payroll, HR, and benefits administration, and HCM Consulting, which supports platform implementations and enhancements. Our clients are fast-moving, growing companies who look to us to manage their day-to-day HR needs, including payroll administration, for their employees. We're growing and looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our Managed Services team.
About the Role
As a Payroll Specialist, you'll be responsible for processing multi-client payrolls, with payroll administration and payroll compliance as the core focus of the role. This includes maintaining payroll systems and reporting. You'll work closely with clients directly, so strong communication and a service-first mindset matter as much as payroll expertise. Depending on client scope, this role may also support onboarding and/or benefits enrollment and administration for certain clients, though payroll remains the primary responsibility and priority.

- Issue and record adjustments to pay related to previous errors or retroactive increases
- Keep track of leave time, such as vacation, personal, and sick leave, for employees
- Provide information to employees and managers on payroll matters, tax issues, benefit plans, and collective agreement provisions
- Conduct verifications of employment
- Distribute and collect timecards each pay period
- Keep informed about changes in tax and deduction laws that apply to the payroll process
- Update payroll system with benefits changes such as 401K, medical deductions, unemployment taxes, etc.
- Process new hire paperwork and enter employee information into the payroll system
- Support onboarding for certain clients as scoped, in coordination with the account team
- Assist with benefits enrollment and administration for certain clients as scoped, alongside core payroll duties
Requirements
- Proven experience with multiple HRIS systems such as Paylocity, Paycor, iSolved, Gusto, Rippling, UKG Pro, UKG Ready, Paychex.

- Working knowledge of payroll compliance (wage & hour law, tax withholding, garnishments)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Comfortable managing multiple client relationships and deadlines simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Recommended Qualifications
- FPC or CPP Certification
This is a remote position. The employee will work from a home office environment and is expected to maintain a reliable internet connection and a workspace conducive to handling confidential payroll data. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as a computer, phone, and printer/scanner.
