Finance Director
Remote within Germany | €110,000-130,000 + Competitive Equity Package
My client is a fast-growing software startup building out its finance function as the business enters its next stage of growth.
This is a genuinely hands-on role. You’ll work directly with the Founder and CEO, take ownership of finance across the business and help build the processes, reporting and financial infrastructure needed to scale.
The company is growing quickly and preparing for its next phase of funding. They need someone who can think strategically, build strong financial models and support fundraising activity, but who is equally comfortable getting into the detail of invoicing, payments and month-end processes.
What you’ll be doing:
- Own financial planning, forecasting, budgeting and cash flow management
- Build and improve financial reporting, controls and processes
- Support fundraising, investor reporting and financial modelling
- Work closely with the Founder on commercial decisions and growth planning
- Develop pricing models and support customer contract structures
- Take ownership of invoicing, accounts receivable and accounts payable
- Coordinate payroll, tax and accounting requirements in Germany
- Work closely with external accountants and tax advisers
- Improve month-end reporting and management information
- Build a finance function capable of supporting a rapidly scaling business
Initially, this will be a highly independent role. As the company grows, there will be an opportunity to build out the wider finance team.
Who they’re looking for
You’ll ideally have:
- Experience working in finance within a software, SaaS or technology startup
- Strong knowledge of German accounting, tax and regulatory requirements
- Fluent German and strong English
- Experience building financial models, forecasts and management reporting
- Exposure to fundraising or working with investors
- Experience creating finance processes rather than simply inheriting them
- A strong grounding from a larger business, investment bank, advisory firm or similarly structured environment
- The confidence to operate directly with founders and senior stakeholders
Most importantly, my client is looking for someone with a high level of ownership and initiative.
You should enjoy solving problems without being given a detailed playbook. One day you might be working on an investor forecast or pricing model. The next you could be fixing an invoicing process or gathering the information needed to close the month.
If you want a role where the finance function is already fully built and you simply manage it, this probably isn’t the right opportunity.
If you enjoy building, improving and taking ownership, it could be.
