Adovent is looking to expand its presence in the United States nonprofit and association market. We work with mission-driven organizations that need effective technology solutions to improve operations, member engagement, events, communications, fundraising, reporting, and digital transformation.
To support this growth, we are hiring a Business Development Manager based in the USA with strong experience in the nonprofit, association, or nonprofit technology ecosystem.
Role Overview
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for developing business opportunities for Adovent within the US nonprofit and association sector.
This role is not intended to be a traditional sales representative position. We are looking for someone who understands how nonprofits and associations operate, how they use technology, and how they evaluate technology partners. The ideal candidate should be able to build trusted relationships, identify opportunities, open doors, and represent Adovent as a credible technology partner.
The person may have prior experience as a technology consultant, business development professional, association technology professional, nonprofit operations/technology leader, or a user of technology platforms while working with nonprofits or associations.
Existing connections within nonprofits, associations, membership organizations, or related professional networks will be a strong advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute business development strategies for Adovent in the US nonprofit and association market.
- Identify and generate new business opportunities with nonprofits, associations, membership-based organizations, and mission-driven institutions.
- Build relationships with Executive Directors, CEOs, COOs, CIOs, Membership Directors, Development Directors, Operations Leaders, and Technology Leaders.
- Understand client needs related to technology, operations, membership management, donor management, event management, communications, reporting, and digital engagement.
- Visit, participate and represent Adovent at networking events such as ASAE, NTEN, AFP, state association societies, nonprofit technology communities, or similar groups.
- Conduct discovery conversations with potential clients to understand their challenges, requirements, and decision-making processes.
- Create and manage a pipeline of qualified opportunities in the nonprofit and association sector.
- Leverage personal and professional networks to create introductions and business opportunities.
- Represent Adovent in industry conversations, networking events, webinars, conferences, and association/nonprofit forums.
- Build relationships with consultants, advisors, implementation partners, and influencers in the nonprofit and association technology ecosystem.
- Work closely with Adovent’s internal team to support proposals, presentations, solution discussions, and client follow-ups.
- Provide market insights on US nonprofit and association technology trends, buyer behavior, competitive landscape, and partnership opportunities.
- Travel to Customer sites, networking events, industry conferences, and trade shows as needed to build relationships and generate business opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of professional experience in business development, consulting, technology advisory, nonprofit operations, association management, or related roles.
- Strong experience working with nonprofits, associations, membership organizations, or nonprofit technology providers.
- Good understanding of how nonprofits and associations use technology to manage operations, members, donors, events, communications, communities, fundraising, or reporting.
- Experience engaging with senior decision-makers and building long-term professional relationships.
- Ability to understand client challenges and present technology solutions in a consultative manner.
- Strong communication, networking, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to generate leads, qualify opportunities, and manage a business development pipeline.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with offshore or cross-functional teams.
