Senior Accountant – Fully Remote Single Family Office – $90K-$130K + B
The Company:
A multi-generation Single Family Office overseeing more than $1 billion in assets is seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant to join its growing team.
The family’s holdings span real estate, operating businesses, public-market investments, private investments, and charitable foundation activity, with a structure that includes more than 40 entities across multiple jurisdictions. As the family office continues to grow and evolve, this individual will work closely with the Controller to help manage and further develop the family’s day-to-day accounting and financial administration.
This is a fully remote opportunity offering significant flexibility, strong work-life balance, and the ability to become deeply embedded within one sophisticated family office rather than supporting multiple outside clients.
The Role:
The Senior Accountant will work closely with the Controller across the family’s accounting operations, including bill payment, cash management, account tracking, reconciliations, banking, tax coordination, and investment-related activity.
Over time, this individual will gradually assume greater ownership of the family office’s day-to-day accounting and financial administration while coordinating with investment managers, payroll providers, banks, tax advisors, and other external service providers.
This is an attractive opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who values autonomy and flexibility and wants to play a meaningful role in continuing to bring a sophisticated accounting function in-house.
Responsibilities:
- Manage bill payment and cash activity across more than 40 family entities
- Maintain accurate accounting records within QuickBooks Online and Bill.com
- Perform bank, credit card, and other account reconciliations
- Track payments, expenses, cash balances, and entity-level activity
- Support day-to-day general ledger accounting and financial administration
- Coordinate with external investment managers and track investment-related activity
- Work with payroll providers and assist with payroll-related budgeting and administration
- Manage banking requirements across multiple entities and jurisdictions
- Provide information and documentation to external tax advisors and assist with tax-related coordination
- Support financial reporting, analyses, and special projects for the principals
- Work with the Controller to improve processes and transition additional accounting responsibilities in-house
- Liaise with banks, investment managers, payroll providers, accountants, and other outside advisors
- Maintain strict confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive family and financial information
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of accounting, family office, private client, or related experience
- Prior family office experience strongly preferred
- Public accounting professionals from a family office, private client, or outsourced accounting group will also be considered
- Strong hands-on experience with bill pay, reconciliations, cash management, and general accounting
- Experience working across multiple entities or complex ownership structures
- Familiarity with investment-related activity and coordinating with external investment managers
- Experience interacting with tax advisors, payroll providers, banks, and other third-party service providers
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and Bill.com is helpful
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and responsiveness
- Mature, dependable, discreet, and comfortable working independently
- Ability to thrive within a fully remote environment
- Flexible and open-minded approach with an interest in growing alongside the family office
Working Environment:
This is a fully remote position, as the family office does not maintain a central office. The principals and advisors are located across Eastern, Pacific, and European time zones, with a typical schedule of approximately 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. ET, although there is flexibility depending on the candidate’s location.
The office supports seven additional family members beyond the two principals. While the principals remain active and involved, the environment offers excellent flexibility and strong work-life balance.
