The Evaluation Consultant Role
The consultancy involves contributing to evaluations across diverse development themes, including health, education, climate change, gender equality, governance, migration, and more. Consultants may also provide cross-cutting expertise in areas such as gender equality, environmental sustainability, and rights-based approaches.
Key Responsibilities
- Train data collectors on research tools, safeguarding, and ethical standards.
- Support translation, adaptation, and pilot testing of research instruments.
- Identify local partners, stakeholders, and research participants.
- Organise and supervise field enumerators during data collection.
- Conduct data quality control activities, including back checks and spot checks.
- Review research documents and participate in interviews and focus group discussions.
- Prepare inception and evaluation reports.
- Apply evaluation methodologies such as Contribution Analysis and Most Significant Change.
Candidate Profile
Targeted at professionals with 5–9 years of experience, this role suits those with practical expertise in evaluation, research, data collection, quality assurance, and stakeholder engagement. Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative methods and a background working in low- and middle-income countries are highly valued.
