Are you a researcher with a PhD in economics, public policy, or development studies? Good Business Lab (GBL) is offering a remote Research Fellow position based in India, providing a unique opportunity to lead high-impact research on worker wellbeing and business outcomes.

About Good Business Lab

GBL is a non-profit labor innovation organization that uses rigorous evidence to show how investing in worker wellbeing can boost business performance. Founded by leading academics like Ach Adhvaryu (UCSD) and Anant Ahuja (Shahi Exports), GBL collaborates with internationally recognized experts to design scalable solutions.

The Role

As a Research Fellow, you will provide technical leadership across 3-4 ongoing research projects, spanning themes like gender, climate, health, livelihoods, and workplace wellbeing. You'll work closely with Research Managers, design studies, analyze data, and contribute to academic papers and grant proposals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design rigorous research studies and pre-analysis plans
  • Monitor data quality and manage methodological changes
  • Develop new research ideas and prepare grant proposals
  • Mentor junior researchers and conduct training sessions
  • Represent GBL at conferences and stakeholder meetings

Who Should Apply?

Ideal candidates have a PhD (or submitted dissertation) in a relevant field, experience with RCTs and quasi-experimental methods, strong quantitative skills, and experience supervising field research. Experience in low- and middle-income countries is a plus.

  • Location: India (Remote), with base in Bengaluru or Delhi
  • Duration: Two-year fixed-term contract
