Key Responsibilities
The Development Officer will take ownership of CRF’s development strategy by:
- Fundraising Strategy & Execution: Leading the identification, cultivation, and stewardship of institutional donors, securing multi-year commitments, and refining CRF’s development approach.
- Partnership Building & Program Expansion: Pursuing collaborative funding opportunities that align with CRF’s mission, developing compelling narratives, and representing CRF at external events.
- Strategic Engagement & Internal Collaboration: Serving as a voice in leadership discussions, supporting executive outreach, and fostering an internal culture of philanthropy.
- Operational Excellence: Managing grant submissions, reporting, compliance, and donor communications, while improving development processes and systems.
The role calls for a balance of visionary leadership and operational rigor, ensuring that CRF’s fundraising is both strategic and sustainable.
The Ideal Candidate
CRF is seeking an experienced fundraising leader with a proven record in nonprofit development. The ideal candidate will bring 8–10 years of nonprofit fundraising experience, ideally in the environmental or climate resilience sector. Success in securing significant philanthropic support, managing complex donor portfolios, and cultivating long-term relationships will be essential.
Additional qualities include:
- Strong grant writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate technical climate programming into compelling narratives.
- Comfort engaging with diverse stakeholders, including foundations, corporate partners, and government agencies.
- Strategic thinking and systems awareness to shape and improve fundraising processes.
- High integrity and discretion when handling sensitive donor and financial information.

Workplace, Compensation, and Application
The Development Officer role is a full-time, fully remote position with an annual salary range of $145,000 to $160,000. CRF provides a comprehensive benefits package, including health coverage, retirement savings, and generous leave policies.
