Project Drawdown, an internationally recognized nonprofit organization focused on advancing science-based climate solutions, is seeking an experienced Senior Digital Designer, Climate Science to join its marketing and communications team. The remote position is open to candidates authorized to work in the United States and offers an opportunity to help translate complex climate science into compelling digital content for global audiences.

According to the organization, the successful candidate will play a key role in developing engaging multimedia content that raises awareness of climate solutions while supporting Project Drawdown’s mission to accelerate action against climate change.

The Senior Digital Designer will lead the creation of digital assets across multiple platforms, including websites, reports, presentations, videos, social media, infographics, animations, and interactive content. The role also involves producing data visualizations and transforming scientific research into accessible, visually engaging stories that resonate with policymakers, businesses, funders, educators, and the public.

Project Drawdown said the position requires someone capable of managing several creative projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards of design, accuracy, and brand consistency. The successful applicant will collaborate closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Senior Creative Manager, scientists, communication specialists, freelancers, and external partners to deliver high-quality multimedia campaigns.

Beyond content creation, the designer will help shape the organization’s digital strategy by ensuring visual consistency across publications, websites, fundraising campaigns, and promotional materials. Responsibilities also include contributing to online marketing initiatives, supporting video production, updating brand guidelines, and exploring emerging digital tools and creative trends.

Applicants should possess at least five years of professional experience producing science-based digital content across web, social media, email, presentations, and video platforms. A bachelor’s degree in graphic design, multimedia, communications, interactive design, or a related discipline is preferred, although equivalent professional experience will also be considered.

Project Drawdown is seeking candidates with strong expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, video editing software, and multimedia production tools. Experience creating digital content related to climate change, environmental science, or sustainability is considered essential, alongside the ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.

The organization also values candidates who are skilled in information design, digital storytelling, project management, and collaboration within remote work environments. Familiarity with Google Workspace, Asana, Slack, Keynote, and Mac-based systems is required, while limited domestic travel and participation in team retreats will also form part of the role.
