Technical Program Manager – Legal Technology & Data Governance
Company: Leading Global Technology Company | Approx. £87,000 | 12M Fixed-Term Contract | Remote (UK)
About the Role: We are seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Technical Program Manager to join our Legal Technology & Operations group. This role sits at the intersection of program strategy and technical execution, supporting our organization’s large-scale corporate compliance, data governance, and legal operations matters, as well as the data science and advanced AI initiatives that power them.
The ideal candidate combines strong program management discipline with genuine technical fluency. You will own a portfolio of concurrent workstreams, zooming in and out between day-to-day operational execution and long-range roadmap planning, while connecting the dots across teams to drive efficiency, alignment, and results. You can reason about tooling and development lifecycles, run your own technical analysis, and translate seamlessly between technical practitioners and legal or business stakeholders. You bring intellectual curiosity, a bias toward building durable infrastructure rather than one-off fixes, and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment while partnering proactively with product, data science, legal, and operations teams.
Responsibilities:
- Program Strategy and Roadmap: Partner with leads and cross-functional teams to shape strategic plans and roadmaps, influencing team direction on technical, tooling, and process priorities. Analyze technology trends across the business to originate and scope new initiatives, reporting on adjacent team efforts to avoid duplicated work.
- Program and Project Execution: Own end-to-end program and project plans. Manage intake and triage for incoming requests, monitor progress through internal enterprise systems, assign work, and track milestones against strict regulatory and compliance deadlines—proactively surfacing and clearing blockers.
- Process, Tooling, and Technical Delivery: Build scalable, defensible playbooks, policies, workflows, and templates that solve complex problems and manage risk. Execute SQL queries and technical analysis to support ongoing initiatives. Drive enhancements to existing legal tech and data analytics tools, vet new software, and manage the lifecycle of internal apps and scripts.
- Measurement and Reporting: Build evaluation frameworks and performance metrics (e.g., completion rates, turnaround times, bottleneck identification). Develop dashboards that make program health visible and drive continuous process improvement.
- Communication and Influence: Distill complex technical and legal information into clear, concise updates for a wide range of stakeholders, including internal business partners and external counsel. Drive accountability across teams with minimal direct involvement from leadership.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS/BA Degree in a technical field.
- 5 to 7 years of experience in technical program management or business analysis, working directly with data scientists, data engineers, or software engineering teams.
- Exposure to at least one AI or machine learning-related project, with proven experience in new tooling implementation, design, and strategy.
- Strong technical aptitude, including the ability to write and run SQL queries and manage software development lifecycles.
- Experience supporting complex, high-stakes data governance, compliance, or corporate legal operations matters.
- Experience managing complex intake processes, driving cross-functional workflows at scale, and building performance evaluation frameworks.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Coding ability in Python or similar scripting languages.
- In-house enterprise technology company experience, or a background in professional services/management consulting.
- Prior experience working directly alongside or within a corporate Legal or Compliance team.
- Familiarity with emerging AI technologies and their practical enterprise applications.
- Experience with enterprise project management and ticketing software.
- PMP certification.
- Advanced degree.
