About the role

Business Development Consultant

Manufacturing Software Solutions

Basic salary between £45,000 - £50,000 + uncapped OTE + car allowance + benefits

Based remotely in UK

My client specialises in manufacturing software for production planning, machine monitoring and shop floor control. They are looking to add to their sales team with someone to develop and grow existing customer relationships and to also win new business. We're looking for someone experienced in selling into the manufacturing sector, ideally you'll have sold a technology solution and have great consultative sales ability. It's a home based role so location doesn't really matter as long as you're in the UK and comfortable travelling to client sites. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing team and help the business continue to move forward with new products and solutions.

The Role:

  • You'll be selling manufacturing software that integrates into existing ERP and MRP solutions to identify ways to extract the most from existing resources, decrease waste and improve efficiency in any factory setting.
  • Selling into manufacturing organisations, particularly precision engineering, machining, fabrication and industrial sectors.
  • Working from home you'll be client facing, both virtually and in person carrying out software demonstrations and identifying areas for growth and development.
  • Around 70% of time will be spent focused on account growth and identifying opportunities for additional modules, services and saas subscriptions. There is also a new analytics module launching early in 2028 so it's a great opportunity to maximise existing relationships and add value to those customers.
  • Customer retention is also key so you'll support strategic account planning activities to drive long term customer growth and ongoing satisfaction.
  • The other 30% of time will be generating and qualifying new sales opportunities through lead generation, networking, marketing campaigns, referrals and market knowledge.
  • You'll manage the whole sales process from initial engagement through to contract signature and ongoing account development.
  • It's a very consultative role, understanding business outcomes and building trusted relationships with multiple decision makers.
  • You'll be home based but with client onsite meetings when needed

The Person:

  • We're looking for someone with 5 years + experience selling manufacturing technology. If this was ERP, MES, scheduling, manufacturing intelligence production planning or similar that would be great but any type of technology for that manufacturing space could be considered.
  • You'll have strong consultative, solution selling skills and be able to develop long term, trusted customer relationships as well as source new business opportunities.
  • We need you to have a full UK driving license and be living in the UK now.
  • You'll have great networking skills and a familiarity with the manufacturing market and speak their language.
  • Any familiarity with saas business models and subscription based revenue environments would be great but isn't 100% essential.
  • It's key that you're confident engaging with people from shop floor level through to board level in any customer environment.

The Package:

  • Basic salary will depend on experience but we’re looking up to around £50,000 with an OTE circa £75,000 - £80,000
  • There is a car allowance available of £540 per month
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays
  • Pension and life assurance
  • Great flexible benefits package available after first 6 months
  • Excellent long term career opportunities in a growing company that is part of a large wider group.
